Congratulations to Northwest Vista College women's and men's basketball team. Both teams are the 2015 Texas Collegiate Club Sports League Basketball Championship. The teams played the tournament finale on Sunday, March 29 and beat their opponents by almost double-digit scores. Over the course of March 28-29, 12 teams traveled to NVC to hopefully be the league champs in volleyball and basketball.
The Texas Collegiate Club Sports League consists of teams from Alamo Colleges sister colleges and from two-year colleges not associated with any other athletic leagues.
NVC’s women’s volleyball team, coached by Annette Berain, took third place. Second place went to Trinity University and Victoria College came in first place. During the regular volleyball season, NVC women’s team only had three losses – all to Victoria College.
In the regular season, the women’s team, coached by NVC's Daniel Johnson, only had three losses and 13 wins. Previously the women were back-to-back league champs in 2010 and 2011.
The NVC men’s team, coached by Curtis McGlown and NVC employee and assistant coach Clifford Wallace, went undefeated the whole season. This is the first time the men had an undefeated team. The men's last league championship was in 2005. The men came close in 2014 but took home second place.
Curtis McGlown of the men's team was selected the league’s Coach of the Year.
