Yours, Mine, Ours – What Does it Mean to Say Our Students are Ours?

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Public Relations.

Yours, Mine, Ours – What Does it Mean to Say Our Students are Ours?

This sounds like a simple question until we begin to unravel the implications of it. NVC’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan focuses on creating a culture of Care, Achievement and Distinction through partnerships, increasing support, and strengthening paths for success. Sounds simple, right?

Our 2018-2023 strategic plan is not the end game. It is the beginning of continuous improvement for our students, faculty and staff. The question remains how we get there. How do each of us contribute to the success of our students? Throughout the implementation phase of our strategic plan, you will have the opportunity to participate in sessions led by our strategic planning steering team, Institutional Effectiveness Team, and members of the college leadership team to work on how your work contributes to the strategic plan and the success of our students.

Our dynamic and holistic plan is our starting point, and we all will need to work together and stretch ourselves to get there. There may be bumps along the way, the work may be hard, and in true NVC fashion, we will have fun and keep our students at the center of what we do!

What does it really mean to say that our students are ours? How far are we willing to go to make sure they know they are ours? Enjoy the ride as we all work together to stretch and see just how far we can reach for our students.
