From a student:
This email is long overdue but I felt I needed to share with you how Gabe Vidaurri impacted my life. Allow me to explain.
You and I spoke a couple of weeks ago and you suggested I join the Zoom link to see if this course was right for for me. I joined and Gabe mentioned you were in a meeting so he offered to help me. We got to talking and I shared what I was trying to achieve. He was incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable. He suggested I stay in the course I had initially opted for as the others didn’t fit my schedule. He was so thorough which I greatly appreciated. The part I would like to highlight is that once I decided to sign up for the course he asked me if I had any questions. I said I did but they would probably have to be shared with an advisor and how difficult it had been for me to get in touch with their long wait times. He was so kind and extended his help by saying I was more than welcome to ask him my questions and he’d do his best to answer. Let me tell you, I had LOTS of questions.
You see, I don’t know much about college or I should rephrase that, I DIDN’T know much about college but after speaking with Gabe he gave me a crash course on everything there was to know. We talked about grants, making sure courses transferred to universities, the difference between college/university/private universities/for profit schools, student loans, accreditation and much more! I had not the slightest clue what any of that was and I felt as if I would never know since it was nearly impossible to get a hold of an advisor.
Gabe gave me so much invaluable knowledge on what I needed and I am so thankful! He never made me feel silly for asking and he remained incredibly patient. When I tell you he went above and beyond I really mean it! He did more than he needed to and I could see just how much he cares for students. He saved me from future headaches, spending more money, wasting time and more. You have an exceptional staff member and I just needed to let you know how much of a blessing Gabe was to me.
Thank you for choosing your people wisely, I am sure part of who he is comes from great leadership and thoughtful development.
