Student Engagement on the Rise

Jennifer Comedy-Holmes NVC Dean for Student Success

Wow! We are almost halfway through the fall 2023 semester. NVC welcomed our new president, Dr. Amy Bosley, we have near-record first-time-in-college enrollment, and we are also seeing a huge spike in student engagement.

Our Registered Student Organizations have almost doubled and our Student Life team is working hard to provide support to these student-led organizations. Please be on the lookout for emails asking for faculty or staff advisors for our Registered Student Organizations.

In addition, we are seeking volunteers to serve on our planning committee for student parent initiatives. We have many initiatives, but are in the process of creating a task force to help provide some structure and organization to these initiatives.  Feel free to contact me if you are interested in serving on this task force.

Thanks to our Student Life team for providing so many wonderful opportunities for students!

  • Over 250 Student Life supported Student Engagement opportunities for NVC students have been provided since the start of fall 2023. This includes, clubs, activities, athletics, events, leadership trainings,  certificates and more

  • 3,000+ participants engaged this fall outside of the classroom (some students may have attended more than one opportunity)

  • 642 attendees for September Involvement & Resource fair.  Had over 25 tables with information on clubs, organizations, student support services etc.

  • 106 people attended the Student Event Team’s Mini Terrarium and 80 people were at the Disco event
