How long have you been teaching at 6:30 am?
This is my first semester teaching Student Development (SDEV 0170) at 6:30 am. Gary Bowling gave me the opportunity to teach at 6:30 am, and I thought to myself, “who wouldn’t want to wake up that early?” plus who wouldn’t want to be a part of the “Red Eye” Crew!

What do you like the most about teaching at this time?
It is a great way start to my day since I work from 8 am to 5 pm! I am passionate about my students’ success and I love walking out of the class thinking, I did a good job. The timeframe is also convenient so I do not miss precious time with my daughter when I get off at 5 pm.

What would you change?
Let’s start classes at 5:30 am. I'm just kidding!

Since I live about 20 minutes away, I have to leave the house no later than 6 am. This requires me to wake up at 4:45 am.  No coffee needed that early in the morning (even though people do not understand how I can be that energetic at that hour)!

How long have you been at NVC?
I began working at Northwest Vista College in January of 2012 as a full-time temporary with the Degree Completion Team Since then, I have continued to serve as a full-time professional, assisting with the implementation of New Student Orientation and, of course, teaching SDEV.

Any other details you want to provide about you or the Red Eye Crew?
It may be pitch black on campus and, maybe at times, we have “red eyes” from waking up THAT early, but with the faculty we have, the student will definitely not fall asleep!
