[image 2]NVC President Jackie Claunch briefly mentioned enrollment data. Fall enrollment is 15,970, dual credit is 2,888 and first-time-in-college students make up 2,337 students. She said the numbers were slightly better than the previous year and thanked everyone who helped make it happen.
Julie Hoshizaki, coordinator of NVC's Game Development & Comp Programming program, recognized 15 students who were among five finalists in June to be recognized as best student talent for creating their game “Time Glitch” at one of the most popular gaming conventions in the nation – Electronic Entertainment Expo College Game Competition. The students competed against other four-year universities. Along with this recognition, the students recently took home third place in the student media competition at the Captivate Conference in early October in Austin.
[image 3]Joy Zhou, coordinator of NVC's Nanotechnology program, also recognized several of her students for achievements they are making in the nanotechnology field. Chris Salinas and Jay Giuliani have been selected for the Student Award of Excellence in 2013 by the National Science Foundation. They will attend the Advanced Technological Education Conference in late October to receive the award; and will be formally recognized by NSF for their achievements in the nanotechnology field. - Lisa McDaniel, coordinator of Communication for the NVC Public Relations team, and Jack Robbins, NVC Art faculty, are the recipients of the 2013 Gold Hermes Creative Award for marketing materials they created to promote a student sculpture exhibition. The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition that honors outstanding achievement and service.
- Darryl Nettles and Jim Lievens are co-facilitating a “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” class Jan. 14-16, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. To sign up, look for the date in AlamoLearn.

- Robert Villarreal Jr. of the NVC Veterans Affairs team was given the Employee of the Month award for September.
- Ana Gonzalez of GCA received the Employee of the Month award for October.
- The Wildcat award went to Vinnie Bradford and Susan Palmer of Fine and Performing Arts and Kinesiology.
To end the meeting, Student Success' Orlando Castaneda, Erik Leos and Luz Hernandez sang a fun parody of NVC.
