In an effort to expose Northwest Vista College students to the election process, a group of government students will embark on an Election Scavenger Hunt from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4.
Three groups of students will compete against one another and the group with the highest points will be declared the winner.
[image 2]Robert Marbut, who teaches the students and coordinates this project, says from seeing the signs put up before the sun rises to learning election day results at watch parties late into the evening, this scavenger hunt will expose students to many parts of the city and the election process.
Marbut tells his students that for the candidates this is the final campaign day in a very long and emotional journey. He adds most people they will encounter are tired and some might be unsure and distrustful of perfect strangers asking strange questions.
Some of the items the students have to find include:
- Getting a group picture before election day at a poll sign set-up party or poll sign distribution event
- Get the name of the first voter at Precinct 1083
- Get the name, precinct number and time of day a voter who is under 35 years old (with photo)
- Recording of a group member calling into a radio show to discuss election day activities
- Campaign flyer signed by Will Hurd
