NVC Employees Recognized for Leadership & Mentorship

La reVistaCongratulations to two Northwest Vista College employees who are being recognized today at the Alamo Colleges Leadership Academy for Success or ALAS holiday celebration at Palo Alto College.

ALAS takes participants through a nine-month journey of developing new mindsets to lead the whole person and identify ways to unleash the full creative potential of people.

Dr. Amy Whitworth, NVC vice president of Academics, is being recognized as a Trusted Leader at Alamo Colleges.

This award is voted on by the ALAS class and facilitators. ALAS participants are asked to consider character, competency and credibility in the leaders they voted for and those leaders model the 13 trust behaviors participants study along the leadership journey. These leaders are seen as modeling the way – the Alamo Way and leaders we want to emulate.

La reVistaRenata Serafin, APR, NVC director of Community & Public Relations, is being recognized with the Building Bridges Award (for involvement in mentoring other leaders).

The Building Bridges Award is given to leaders who have had consistent involvement in mentoring ALAS participants. They are leaders that have provided their most precious commodity and that is their – time – to help others grow, flourish and develop. These leaders are seen as bridge builders and people that help unleash the potential and talent in others.
