New Resource to Refer Future Wildcats to the Admissions Team

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications.

NVC Dean for Student Success: Advising and Enrollment

“Do you work at Northwest Vista?”

Today I’m wearing my Vista shirt and my NVC lanyard that has prompted the question. Other days, I may be the one asking if they attend Vista or if they’re heard of Northwest Vista College.  Every time I have the chance to answer or ask these questions, I am filled with joy sharing the Opportunities for Success that can be found at Vista.

Over the years, my family has become accustomed to how the rest of the conversation unfolds; often resulting in a quick email to a colleague asking for assistance, or maybe even a text for an on-the-spot response (thank you to those who have helped me over the years!), providing them with my contact information, or sending an email to myself with their contact information so I can follow up the next day.   In each of these engagements, I have felt so grateful for the chance conversation and for the ability to help make connections for them.

Whether it’s in line at HEB, attending your kiddo’s school function, grabbing a bite to eat, at the gym, or getting your nails done; you have all had these same conversations.  Each of you are serving as NVC ambassador to our community and have helped students in the least likely of places. THANK YOU and we want to make it easier for you to help these future Wildcats get registered for classes.

During last week’s Gathering for Strategic Enrollment Management, a new referral form was shared that can be used in those flash conversations with prospective students. We encourage you to bookmark this referral form (found on the Employees page) on your phone so the next time you find yourself chatting about Vista while waiting to checkout at HEB, you can make a quick referral to connect with one of our team members form the Admissions and Welcome Center team. The referral form asks for a couple pieces of information that will help make a smooth handoff.  Once the form is submitted, an Enrollment team member will reach out to the prospective student to offer additional assistance.   We have also asked for your information to help us personalize the outreach to the student and let you know we have received the referral.

We are grateful for the engagement you have already shown in supporting students. We hope this will help you continue to make the connections for our students.  If you would like to volunteer for the upcoming outreach events listed below or learn about more opportunities to engage with enrollment activities, please contact Luz Hernandez:  lhernandez329@alamo.edu .
