Northwest Vista College welcomes Amy Whitworth, Ph.D, as the new NVC dean of Arts and Sciences. Amy has an extensive career in education working both as a faculty member and as an administrator.
She taught English and Reading at Rhodes Middle School in the early 1990’s, and began as an adjunct at San Antonio College in 1996. In 1999, Amy accepted a tenure track position and was a program coordinator in Philosophy at SAC and chair of the Language, Philosophy, and Culture Department.
Amy has served on Faculty Senate at SAC. In the summer of 2010, she was the NEH Scholar at Oxford University in Oxford, UK, and in 2015 traveled to Athens, Greece for a summer institute. Amy has a BA in Philosophy from UT Austin, an MA in Philosophy and PhD in Philosophy from Marquette University.
