Help us Keep COVID-19 Numbers Down

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications

NVC Vice President of Colleges Services

As we slowly venture back to campus, we are highly encouraging COVID-19 protocols as recommended by local authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since day one of the pandemic, the NVC Risk Management team has led the efforts to ensure PPE availability, develop and revise numerous protocols, and provide ongoing support and guidance. Due to our quick action, NVC has had a low number of onsite positive COVID-19 cases.

Thank you to faculty and staff who also did their part to get vaccinated, wear masks on campus and abide by often changing guidelines. While we are still grappling with COVID-19, please be aware of some of the protocols and initiatives below. If you have any questions regarding the information, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Garvin Dansby, coordinator of NVC Risk Management, at 210-486-4062.

Health Screening and Testing Prior to Coming to Campus

Answer the COVID-19 screening questions before you come to campus. When you arrive, show the approval screen, have your temperature taken, and receive a wristband for that day. Click here to fill out the screening form. Effective Aug. 16, all employees, students, and vendors’ employees who are scheduled to work regularly on site will be required to be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. Register here prior to coming to campus. No appointment is needed for the test in Mountain Laurel Hall, room 132.

Testing times:

  • Mondays: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Tuesdays: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Vaccine Clinic

On Aug. 25, Northwest Vista College will join with San Antonio Metro Health to bring a vaccination clinic for the community ages 12 and up who want to receive their first dose of the vaccine. The clinic offers the free Pfizer vaccine on a first come, first served basis. Learn more here.

COVID Incident Reporting

NVC and the Alamo Colleges District continues to monitor COVID-19 exposures and positive cases within our community and among our faculty, staff and students. If you believe you may have been exposed, are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19, please fill out the COVID Incident Report. While anyone can submit a report, it’s preferable for the affected person to submit a report. It’s critical that a report is made whether the affected person has been onsite or remote (vendors, community members, or others onsite within the past two weeks) for several reasons including contact tracing and quarantine measures.

Vaccine Voluntary Registration Incentives

All full-time, benefited employees (faculty and staff) who have been vaccinated and register on the site will receive an additional 8 hours of personal leave. All part-time and adjunct employees (excluding work-study students) who have been vaccinated and register on the site will be paid a one-time $50 incentive. This incentive will be paid on the last pay check of the month following the vaccination submission. To learn how to submit the information, go here.
