Good News from our Accrediting Agency

By Dr. Ric Baser
President, Northwest Vista College

I’m excited to let you know that we received a letter from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) President, Dr. Belle Wheelan, concerning the SACSCOC Committee on Fifth-Year Interim Reports review of NVC’s Fifth-Year Interim Report and QEP Impact Report.

NVC was found in compliance with the select standards of the Principles of Accreditation outlined in the SACSCOC Fifth-Year Interim Report, and the “Committee requested no additional reporting on these standards.”

NVC was found to have “adequately described the initial goals and intended outcomes of its QEP, discussed the impact on student learning and/or student success, and described what the institution has learned as a result of the QEP experience.” NVC received no formal recommendations indicating areas of non-compliance, and our SACSCOC Vice President congratulated NVC on a “clean report with no further report required.”

As a reminder, the findings of the SACSCOC Interim Off-Campus Instructional Sites Committee shared on November 11, 2021, represent a preliminary assessment of the institution. Final action on the report rests with the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. The SACSCOC Board of Trustees will formally review Interim Off-Campus Instructional Sites Committee report in June 2022.

I would like to take the opportunity to once again thank NVC Vice President for College Services Erin Sherman for spearheading the SACSCOC Interim Off-Campus Instructional Sites Report and site visit, Fifth-Year Interim Report, and QEP Impact Report efforts. It was a phenomenal team effort to submit the Fifth-Year Interim Report and QEP Impact Report in the midst of the pandemic, changing student needs and ongoing commitments.

Please help me thank the following individuals.
