Dr. Janie Scott has been appointed as the new interim vice president for Student Success at Northwest Vista College. She assumed her new role on March 18, following announcements from NVC President Dr. Amy Bosley and Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores regarding Debi Gaitan, who will now serve as the interim vice chancellor for Student Success for the Alamo Colleges District, also effective March 18.
Gaitan previously held the position of Vista’s vice president for Student Success until her appointment to the new role, succeeding Dr. Adelina S. Silva, who retired as vice chancellor for Student Success.
Dr. Scott has served in several roles at NVC, including director of Strategic Initiatives, assistant to the vice president of Academic Success, and associate director of Student Activities. Dr. Scott is a passionate community college practitioner with focus on leadership development and strategy.
In her roles at NVC, she has led college-wide initiatives that help set the direction and vision for the college, including the development of the strategic plan, co-leading strategic enrollment management, facilitating professional development for employees, and serving on numerous college and district-wide committees. Janie has also served as an adjunct instructor in English and SDEV.
Prior to NVC, Janie worked for the University of Texas at San Antonio in financial aid, graduate advising, and pre-college advising for middle school and high school students in the Middle Rio Grande area.
Janie earned a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Old Dominion University, a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her husband and two daughters, who are both NVC students.
