The December Bragging Breakfast meeting provided a festive atmosphere with the holiday break on most employees' minds.
Northwest Vista College President Dr. Ric Baser started the meeting with several announcements:
- Volunteers are needed for the First Time in College Advising sessions. This orientation-type class helps to give students navigational skills and will help employee volunteers practice their presentation skills and share with students a variety of classes. To sign up, go here.
- Please take a survey NVC Public Relations will be pushing out regarding getting feedback for a communications plan for a 20-Year celebration for NVC since the college will be 20 years old next year.
- NVC Public Relations Director Renata Serafin announced that this semester's “Why a Degree” writing contest saw a little over 200 candidates vs. 61 the previous semester. Two of the top winners were present at the meeting and had a chance to say thank you. Renata also expressed the contest is beneficial because it allows students to write down their goals. She also said thank you to the 75 plus judges.

Founded by playwright Jonathan Wei, The Telling Project is a funny and powerful theater performance piece where local veterans and military families share their stories, in their own words, before a live audience. The 10-person cast spent weeks at KLRN rehearsing with local director and NVC instructor Stacey Shade-Ware and on Oct. the play premiered at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
