NVC President Jackie Claunch reminded everyone that NVC Earth Day is Thursday, April 18 and it starts at 9 a.m. in the outdoor classroom at Live Oak Hall. For a detailed schedule, click here.
[image 2]The four-day work week officially starts the week of June 3, but NVC needs staffing on June 7 to support Maymester classes and help with students enrolling for the summer. Jackie said starting the week of June 10, the four-day work week will continue.
Workforce Education & Training announced a new Associate of Applied Science degree and certificate program called Personal Fitness Trainer starting in the fall of 2013. The program will prepare students for the National Academy of Sports Medicine exam.
[image 3]Summer registration opens to all students on April 15 and fall registration begins May 6. Students will be guaranteed financial aid for the summer if they met the March 1 processing deadline. To be guaranteed aid for the fall, students must adhere to a May 1 processing deadline.
Jackie answered a question about the soon-to-be-open parking garage in the fall. She said the college plans to stop the shuttle busses in the fall; and is waiting on the Alamo College Board of approval on the fee structure in order to start [image 4]communicating the upcoming changes to students. A suggestion was made at the meeting to have a naming contest for the garage though Jackie said the name would have to be after a tree or flower.

- Susan Palmer of the Palmetto Center for the Arts received the Employee of the Month Award
- Yalitza Guerra and Nancy Guevara and Minerva Muniz received the Wildcat Spirit Award
- Diane De La Garza received the new Administrative Professional Award
- NVC student Jason Giuliani was recognized for being a NanoJapan scholarship recipient.
Forty-five NVC students were recognized by employees and their family members for being Alamo Colleges Foundation scholarship winners. Out of 980 NVC students who applied, 340 students received an award.
