ALL's First Fair

[image 1]Workforce’s Community Education held its first Academy for Lifelong Learning Resource Fair on May 31.

The event not only attracted a variety of vendors and attendees but also Alamo College and city officials. About 23 vendors were at the event at Mountain Laurel Hall, which included a list of wellness screenings and companies and organizations that cater to older generations.

Along with NVC President Jackie Claunch, Alamo Colleges Board of Trustee Roberto Zarate also visited the fair as well as Workforce's Pat Fontenot and Chris Maddox.

In tow with Zarate was George Lynn Britton, Jr., chairman of the city's district 4 commission on City/County Commission on Elderly Affairs. Britton has partnered with Zarate to find a process where seniors can take courses at the Alamo Colleges whether academic or non-credit courses.

[image 2]Britton said he would like Northwest Vista College to host one of their future board meetings for the Elderly Affairs commission and visit one of the college's Academy for Lifelong Learning meetings.
