Student Success Engages in a #GOWESTVISTA Initiative

The first Friday of each month, Student Success has a division-wide gathering called Good Morning Student Success (GMSS). For the Oct. 5 GMSS, all Student Success employees were engaged in #GOWESTVISTA initiatives.

Off-campus outreach involved team members visiting various businesses located in West San Antonio to deliver information about NVC degrees and certificates, community enrichment and engagement programs and activities such as HalloVista.

On-campus outreach teams participated in either a phone or writing campaign to prospective and former West San Antonio students and families.

Also on Oct. 5, Dr. Baser, Debi Gaitan, Jennifer Comedy-Holmes, and Robin Sandberg met with the Westside Development Corporation’s President and CEO, Leonard B. Rodriguez, to further develop a relationship and partnership that is vital in providing higher education opportunities to the West Side community. The Westside Development Corporation addresses long-term economic development concerns in the inner West Side.

On Oct. 25, the NVC Public Relations team is also engaging in another opportunity for NVC faculty and employees to get involved in. NVC will participate in “Ghouls Night Out” from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center. NVC will decorate a room, hand out candy and college material to trick-or-treaters and their families. If you would like to help out and represent NVC, please contact Melissa Monroe-Young at mmonroe-young@alamo.edu

NVC has also been a member of the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for several years, and cabinet leaders recently attended its breakfast gala.
