Northwest Vista College earned a top spot on the 2019 Best Colleges in America list just released by Niche, a leading platform with 50 million users looking for information on K-12 schools and colleges in the U.S. NVC is ranked No. 1 in Texas and No. 6 in the nation out of 868 ranked community colleges. This is a significant jump from the 2018 ranking which previously listed NVC at No. 3 in Texas and No. 41 in the nation.
The significance of this ranking is that it analyzes academic, admissions, financial aid and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as millions of reviews from students and alumni regarding value, academics, campus life and other factors important to students.
The list contains data on 4,271 colleges and universities throughout the nation and it’s used by students and families in making a college choice.
Although ranking is not our focus, nor is it our mission statement, we do want to celebrate this achievement because it — once again — places NVC in a positive light both regionally and nationally. It also enhances the image of community colleges and promotes their role in educating future workforce. This recognition can further advance NVC’s value to our donors and positively impact student scholarships. Our community and business partners can rest assured that NVC’s graduates are getting a quality education and deserve a chance for a productive career that creates progress for them and their families.
