May 4, 2018 | NVC PR | Leave a comment A new scholarship is being established in memory of Maj. Jason Paxton and his music. He attended NVC from spring 2017 until his death in April. “He was an extremely determined student. He composed part of a string quartet and a sonata for guitar during his short time at NVC,” says Dan Smith, discipline coordinator for music at NVC. Jason served in the military with distinction for nearly 20 years in the U.S. Army and medically retired due to injuries and experiences from his deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Before his military service, Jason completed a degree in music from the University of Redlands. He also worked towards a doctorate in music at the University of Cincinnati College—Conservatory of Music. Those interested in making a donation for the scholarship may bring cash or checks payable to the Alamo Colleges Foundation to Manzanillo Hall, Room 104G.
