Just One Latte a Month!

screen-shot-2016-09-23-at-11-18-42-amGetting a college education is never easy and for many of our students, it may be even harder if they are taking care of families.

Martin Zavala-Hernandez, a fall 2016 recipient of the NVC Alumni Scholarship, eloquently expressed his appreciation for the scholarship he received in a thank-you letter to donors:

“It is often hard making ends meet. Going to school, working and taking care of my family leaves me barely enough money for books and other school supplies,” Martin said. “You giving me this scholarship is a huge help and I am grateful. When I am successful, I will also give scholarships to people who want to continue higher education. This act of kindness will know no ends.”

Giving a scholarship to a student or a United Way organization doesn’t have to be financially hard. Employees can donate just a few dollars a month through payroll deduction – for many that’s just one latte a month (depending on what size you order).

Speaking of coffee, the next five people who contribute online or complete a paper pledge form and turn it in at MZH 104G will receive two vouchers for free tall Starbucks drinks in the Bistro at the Courtyard Marriott SeaWorld/Westover Hills.

Also there’s still time to participate in the Impact Idol contest where you can dress up a piggy bank and enter it into our Facebook contest.
