Valentine’s Message to Northwest Vista College
I love Northwest Vista College’s amazingly talented team of staff and faculty who are dedicated to working together to provide the greatest opportunities for our students.
I am proud that all three of my children attended and graduated from this wonderful institution. They are my personal examples of how valuable our college is to the success of our community. You truly make an impactful difference on the lives of our students and you set them on the right path to their success. I am, FOREVER, grateful to all of you for teaching, advising, developing, mentoring, and caring for my children. It is an illustration of what you do for all of our students. Holistic Approach
It is incredible that we are already three weeks into our spring 2019 semester.
I am excited about the start of a new calendar year and the promising things that we will accomplish in 2019 as we all work together to support our students. I was honored to attend many events and meetings that were taking place at the beginning of the term and see the dedication and commitment to the success of our students.
It was uplifting to strategically think about and plan our 2018-2023 strategic plan and I am anticipating to fully engage with our plan in 2019. Student Success is developing a new and innovative approach to our linkages to the strategic plan and service assessments. The new strategic plan creates the space we need to expand our thinking and develop plans that continue to be student-centered and results oriented.
The Strategic Plan states: Together we create a culture of Care by providing a holistic approach to student support services.
Our college leaders are collaborating and partnering to develop and implement a more holistic approach to our Strategic Enrollment Management Plan that will assess all aspects of the student experience. We will review all processes and requirements and will identify and eliminate barriers. This requires the dedication and attention of all areas of the college to include Student Success, Academic Success, College Services, and our President’s team. I am hopeful that this college-wide effort will deliver a better student, staff, and faculty experience.
I look forward to this important collaboration and the ease that our students will experience in our near future. I thank our Student Success team and colleagues across the college, that have stood in the gap, and engage in the manual hoop-jumping that it often takes to assist our students.
This year holds tremendous opportunities for us to engage in and build a continuously improving experience for our students. Please allow me the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and work alongside you as we plan for and work towards our future, together. We are at our best when we are working…together.
