Congratulations to Northwest Vista’s very own Denise Tolan for being one of 53 winners across the U.S. with her short story “Because Your are Dead.”
Braddock Avenue Books guest editor Aimee Bender selected just 53 winning stories out of 101 finalists for its 2018 Best Small Fictions anthology. A Braddock representative said it was an “intensely competitive” year since nearly 1,000 entries were submitted.
The Best Small Fictions is the first contemporary anthology solely devoted to honoring the best short hybrid fiction published in a calendar year. The series began in 2015, featuring seasoned and emerging writers. Flash, micro fiction, prose poetry, and haibun stories are just some examples of the hybrid forms honored.
