Coming Soon: Improved Admission and Enrollment Process for Students

La reVistaIn every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Public Relations.

Vice President for Student Success

As the 2016 year draws to a close it is a great time to reflect back on Northwest Vista College’s successes of the past year and to give thanks for all that we enjoy together. It is also a time to look forward and for planning. I want to share one forward-planning strategic initiative being rolled out at NVC.

In an effort to support the achievement of NVC’s 2015-2018 Strategic Plan Objective I (see below) and in partnership with our MathPath Title V grant team, we are gearing up for the launch of a new Student Relationship Management (SRM) system.

The SRM will allow us to provide students a more comprehensive and personalized admissions and enrollment experience through improved communication and tracking of students. It creates a proactive, hands-on experience for students and Student Success team members. The SRM does not replace AlamoENROLL, however, it will provide enhancements.

The phase I SRM rollout is planned for spring 2017 in support of First Time in College (FTiC) students. Phase I includes enhancements to admissions and enrollment communications to FTiC students, an easier to navigate New Student Orientation sign-up process, and MathPath advising messaging.

Phase II launch for fall 2017 includes support for former NVC students who are returning.

Phase III launch for spring 2018 includes support for new transfer students.

Phase IV launch for fall 2018 includes support for all NVC applicants.

By 2020 the admissions and enrollment communication plan will be fully operational using our SRM. In addition, there will be other communication and tracking initiatives built in the SRM.

I want to take a moment to thank the team members who have spent many hours preparing for the spring 2017 launch. It has been a challenging, yet positive process and their persistence is greatly appreciated. There have been many contributors to this project, in particular:

Student Success: Robin Sandberg, Yolanda Reyes Guevara, Cathy Gonzalez, Shirley Pena, Julie Flores, Cindy Zamudio, Destiny Harper-Lane, and Melissa Guerra,

IT: Felix Salinas, Tyrell Schwab, Ana Escamilla, and Malcom Higgins

IR: Eliza Hernandez and Cherie Burnside (also works in Student Success)

Title V: Debbie Blake

My best wishes to everyone as we come to the close of 2016. Happy holidays to you and I look forward to serving our students…together, in 2017.

– Debi
