Bragging Breakfast August Meeting

The first Bragging Breakfast of the semester convened with a packed house of employees. Free breakfast tacos and coffee, thanks to NVC College Services, also helped to bring in the masses.

Northwest Vista College President Dr. Ric Baser welcomed everyone with some good news – NVC enrollment has hit 18,004 with paid registration at 17,194.

“This is really cool because we crossed the 18,000 mark,” said Dr. Baser. “If we had more room to grow, we could be even larger.”

Another huge milestone Dr. Baser talked about is the increase in number of students awarded degrees and certificates. As of Sept. 9, NVC had 3,676 graduates with numbers to be finalized on Sept. 13.

“We have blown the top off of our original goal of 2,719.” Dr. Baser added. “In the last three years, we have had over 40 percent growth in graduation. With these numbers, we will be one of the top three associate producers in the State of Texas.”

Lynne Dean, director of NVC Institutional Advancement, talked about the current NVC Cares or employee giving campaign. She encouraged everyone to give so NVC can reach its goal of 40 percent participation. Lynne said currently participation is at 17 percent. Several employees received gifts from NVC lawn chairs to restaurant and movie gift cards for being participants of the campaign.

Dr. Baser also reminded everyone that a Special Committee from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission will be in San Antonio for a site visit from Sept. 26 through Sept. 29. The team will visit NVC, San Antonio College and St. Philip’s College. For more information about this, go here.
