What Can You do to Help with Flex II Enrollment?

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications.

We want to thank everyone who contributed to the successful launch of the Fall 2021 semester, particularly the collaborators between Academic Success and Student Success who made so many adjustments to meet the needs of our students.  We saw the NVC Can-Do spirit in so many places.  From the creation of more NSO’s and classes, to late night record reviews and endless texts, chats and emails; we came together to provide our students with continued Opportunities for Success.  We are so incredibly proud of the teams who are continuing this work!

Because of the decision to stay online for the first two weeks of the semester due to surging pandemic cases, we knew that there would be some students who would want to wait and see how things were going before committing to in-person classes, or even college at all.  Our New Student Orientation team and Certified Advisors put together data so that our Coordinators and Chairs could determine where there would be an increased need for Start II (14-week) classes, relative to our existing 16-week classes and Flex classes. We were able to recruit some additional faculty and add much needed classes for Start II and Flex II classes that both our continuing and new students were looking to take.  These collaborative enrollment efforts have resulted in a 102% increase in our Start II registration and the highest enrollment yet for this part of term.

Now that the semester is underway, and we have successfully made it back to campus for face-to-face classes, we are celebrating being able to see each other again and feel connected to our community in ways that we haven’t been able to for many months.  With the start of a new academic year, we are renewed in our enrollment efforts as we set our focus on Flex II that begins in five weeks.  We will reach out to one another for recent and historic lessons learned and lean into the new strategies that we are creating together.
