This June, GM Financial plans to open its new 100,000 square-foot servicing center right up the street from Northwest Vista College on Ellison Drive.
In the spirit of community, the company recently established the GM Financial Next Level Scholarship for full or part-time NVC students pursuing a plan of study in business.
GM Financial has created the Next Level Scholarship as part of their Partner Level membership in the NVC Business Council.
Members joining at the Partner Level have the option of setting-up a scholarship bearing their name.
The NVC Business Council is a membership organization of business leaders and owners who help create opportunities for success at Northwest Vista College through collaboration, partnerships, mentorship, marketing and financial support. Dues are used to fund scholarships for NVC students.
The GM Financial Next Level scholarship, $500 per semester, will be available to students enrolling at NVC for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Qualifying students must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA and those planning to transfer to a four-year institution will be eligible for the award.
Wayne A. Saiz, senior vice president with GM Financial, recently gave a speech about the newly created scholarship at this year’s NVC Scholarship Recognition Breakfast on April 21.
GM Financial says they expect to hire as many as 700 employees at the new center and highly-encourage Vista students and alumni to apply.
The company recently hosted a job-networking event on campus. Plans are in the works to host a networking function specifically for NVC alumni.
“While attending multiple events on campus, we have been very impressed by the quality of students at NVC,” said GM Financial HR Manager, Sabrina Gonzalez.
She added, “We have opportunities for team members who are early in their career to learn the business from the ground up and be a part of our unique culture, all while gaining the skills to advance their education and professional development.”
Team members at the new San Antonio Service Center will serve customers across the country with account management and payments related to auto financing, retail installment lending, leasing and commercial financing for 16,000 dealers worldwide.
In a statement released by the company, GM Financial CEO, Dan Berce, said, “We are proud to call San Antonio the future home of our fifth servicing center in North America and excited to break ground on this new facility with the support and partnership of leaders from the city of San Antonio, Bexar County and the state of Texas.”
