Events Pack the House at Palmetto March 3

It’s not uncommon to see the Palmetto Center for the Arts buzzing at night from a performance. But on Friday, March 3, Palmetto wasn’t just buzzing, it was swarming with employees, students and the community to take part and see two events – the high-energy musical, “Grease” and Cosmic Art Night.

Diana Kersey of Cosmic Art Night estimates about 300 people came to that event at one end of Palmetto, and at the other end, the 400-seat theater had nearly every seat filled for “Grease.”

“I came before 7 p.m. and I could barely fit in the Cosmic Art room because all the stations were taken up by kids and students and families. It was great to see such a huge crowd,” said Renata Serafin, director of NVC Public Relations “Then I stood in line for ‘Grease’ and had to sit way up at the top – my husband and I grabbed one of the last few seats left. I don’t think there were any empty seats.”

Tim Hedgepeth, director of Grease also confirmed the musical has experienced record-breaking ticket sales.

“It has been a fun experience and our actors’ energy and enthusiasm has been contagious,” he said. “The audience reaction was wonderful and high-spirited. We encourage folks to arrive early to get tickets and avoid being turned away.”

The remaining dates of the production are March 10, 11 and 12th. For more information, go here.

Prior to the production, the Friends of the Arts at NVC hosted a Donor Appreciation Night reception that had 160 RSVPs. NVC’s Lynne Dean of FANS said this is the most RSVPs they have had for any reception.

The NVC Public Relations team, along with Palmetto’s Rey Cardenas, helped to spread publicity about these events through a local morning news show and social media. The organic activity on social media was impressive.

NVC Facebook:

  • The Cosmic Art post reached 2,011 people with 45 likes
  • The post on Grease reached 3,466 people with 75 likes

NVC Twitter:

  • The Cosmic Art Tweet had 1,066 impressions and 164 total engagements
  • The Tweet on Grease had 538 impressions and 72 total engagements

These social media numbers don’t count activity on the Palmetto Center for the Arts Facebook page and NVC’s Instagram account.
