More than 1,000 people attended the 3rd annual HalloVISTA festival, an event intended to make the college accessible to families through Halloween activities for children, teenagers and their parents. At the event, many NVC departments and programs did educational outreach to promote the unique culture of the college.
HalloVISTA included an outdoor movie of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the Lago Vista lake. Other activities were costume contests, a haunted house, food trucks, bounce houses, petting zoo, trick-or-treating and more.
Congratulations to Lisa McDaniel and the NVC Public Relations team for coordinating this event for the college and bringing many different areas of the college together to put on the massive HalloVISTA project. This year, there was more participation from college departments from Staff Senate taking on trick or treating for kids that quickly ran out of candy, Natural and Physical Sciences wowing the crowds with their hair-raising science experiments, Advanced Materials Technology (nanotechnology) explaining how futuristic nano can be, the English department reading to kids, NVC Recruitment telling kids about NVC to NVC Community Education promoting their kids camps to parents and children.
A big thanks to the many volunteers that came from across the college from students, faculty to employees who volunteered their time on a Saturday to make this event festive and showcase the campus to the outside community.
