Students Get Engaged in Sexual Health

NVC Counseling Services partnered with The Center for Healthcare Services (CHCS) and UNIFY (a SAMHSA grant-funded, community-based organization) to provide sexual health information, STD prevention and other resources to our students. The program materials placed special focus on consent.

NVC students were invited to write their thoughts about consent onto sticky notes, and place them on a flip chart for others to read and share. More than 50 NVC students stopped by to pick up information, share their thoughts, and ask questions.

We are planning more joint activities with these agencies and the Psychology Department in the near future.

Note: SAMHSA is the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. SAMHSA is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation.
