The second annual May 4th movie viewing at Northwest Vista College again brought big crowds to watch the movie from the Star Wars series. It’s estimated about 1,300 people attended the event to watch the free screening of “Rogue One.”
Like last year, there was a costume contests for both adults and children, a Chewbacca contest, a kids lightsaber area, table vendors and food trucks. New items this year included a video gaming area, a live band, and a special appearance by Fred Reyes – this year’s King Rey Feo, who’s Fiesta royal outfit includes a Star Wars theme. Paul Vallejo and the NVC Public Relations team have been coordinating this event since the start of the semester and try each to make it better.
NVC’s new neighbor, GM Financial, also became a sponsor of the event and had a display table along with vehicles. To help offset costs this year, the NVC Public Relations area sold $10 t-shirts that said May the 4th be With You. T-shirts are still available at this link and can be picked up in Public Relations, Manzanillo Hall, second floor.
The Public Relations team is starting to begin the planning process for the annual HalloVista event in October. If your department or group would like get involved, please contact Lisa McDaniel at [email protected].
