Bereavement Notice:
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Santiago (Santi) P. Arevalo Jr. His joyful smile and laugh will be missed. Santi passed away from cancer on September 27, 2023.
Santi worked at NVC for over 10 years and left in 2022 due to his battle with cancer. Both his sisters, Melissa Aguirre (SPC) and Michelle Aguirre (DSO) are long time employees of Alamo Colleges with both getting their start as students and employees at NVC. In 2014, Santi was given the Employee of the Month award when he worked in NVC’s Teaching & Learning Facilitation area (formerly of NVC College Services). One of his peers said:
“Santiago genuinely cares about the people he works with and our customers. He is committed, patient, and kind. He seeks what is best for the team and our college as a whole. He avoids disputes and conflict. Instead, he seeks to bring peace and calm to every situation to ensure we are able to ‘Create Opportunities for Success.’ Santiago always finds the balance to keep our department performing well!”
