Registration Support for Current Students Through Synergy

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications.

Synergy: We work together to make our shared vision a reality, recognizing that the whole we can create together is greater than the sum of its parts.

With fall registration right around the corner, the teams from Academic Success and Student Success have come together to create some synergistic support for current students. Christina Brown, Gary Bowling, Karla Ellis, Trina Cowan, Julie Moore-Felux, and Yolanda Reyes Guevara have been working to create “All College Registration Days” which will provide support to students by offering a one-stop-shop registration lab.

The purpose is to try to remove some of the barriers that prevent students from registering and to provide students an opportunity to have faculty and advisors working together with the students. Through this collaborative approach, the students will have advisors available to discuss degree plans and faculty available to answer discipline specific questions.

This is not the first year NVC has offered registration labs to support  students. What originally started as a cross-department endeavor three years ago has grown into a cross-college synergistic enrollment strategy. Just last year, 1,642 students were served through this initiative. In true NVC fashion, the team has built upon the successes of past years’ to take the experience to the next level…together!

The team has developed a marketing plan and will begin messaging students and the NVC community in the upcoming weeks. We ask for your help to raise student awareness about the importance of registering early and connecting with their advisors and faculty to help stay on the path to completion.
