Belonging was the focus of our college’s Employee Development Day (EDD) held on October 28, 2022.
Our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Vanessa Sansone, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio, shared her insights on being a Hispanic Serving Institution with a focus on education with a purpose for Latinx students. There were over 20 concurrent sessions, poster sessions during lunch, and wellness sessions that included yoga, painting with natural inks, Latin dancing and a bring-your-own-instrument jam session. A big thank you to all who coordinated, presented, and participated in the 2022 EDD!
Celebration of the Life Honoring Betty Cunningham – November 10th Come & Go from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in Desert Willow Welcome Center 212, 214, 216
Elizabeth “Betty” Cunningham was Northwest Vista College’s first employee and graduate. She began working at Northwest Vista College in 1996 and from her first day on the job she was advocating on behalf of veterans and their families. Therefore, early in our college’s journey she became the Senior Coordinator of our Veterans Center, a role she chose to remain in until her retirement in March 2022. Please stop by and spend some time with colleagues and friends as we celebrate her life of service to others and share appreciation for all she did for our students and college.
Cafecito – November 10th from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm in Juniper Hall 110
A Cafecito is spending time together renewing existing relationships and cultivating new ones. As we work on urgent and important matters, our relationships help us see, relate, and interact with one another in ways that move our college forward while we support students in reaching their goals. Come have a cup of coffee and be a part of this celebration of togetherness as we discuss what matters most to you.
