The 2016 spring semester got off to a strong start with preliminary enrollment numbers outpacing the previous year.
As of Jan, 21 enrollment was 16,587, which is 672 more students than the previous year. The paid enrollment count was 15,747 students or 363 more than the previous year. Enrollment numbers won't be finalized until after the census date of Feb. 3. On this day, the college takes a “snapshot” of all students' enrollment which becomes the “official enrollment” that is used for both state reporting and financial aid eligibility.
SDEV/EDUC 1300 enrollment is another leading indicator that NVC tracks; and is an important measure predicting future overall NVC enrollment.
Five years in a row, NVC has improved the spring enrollment in SDEV/EDUC courses. SDEV/EDUC 1300 enrollment increased from 1,086 in spring 2011 to 1,244 in spring 2015 – a 14.55 percent increase in five years (according to NVC Institutional data). Current spring 2016 numbers are already more than 100 students ahead of this time last year (mid January), with currently 1,198 students compared to 1,075 the previous year.
NVC is on track to exceed the enrollment numbers from spring 2015 and set a record for 2016 SDEV/EDUC enrollment when the final Flex II enrollment is completed. If the Flex II enrollment follows the pattern from previous years, NVC will add approximately 180 students to the current enrollment figures. This suggests the SDEV/EDUC 1300 will top 1,375, resulting in the best year in the history of the college.
