Phising Emails

Beware of phishing emails asking to purchase items, gift cards or asking you for your personal information. While the Alamo Colleges District is currently in temporary work from home state, it is even more critical that we are vigilant of phishing attempt emails. Please be watchful of email containing the following Alamo Colleges District external message warning.

**THIS EMAIL IS FROM AN EXTERNAL SENDER OUTSIDE OF THE ALAMO COLLEGES.

Be cautious before clicking links or opening attachments from unknown sources. Do not provide personal or confidential information.**

“Phishing” is the most common type of cyber-attack that affects organizations like ours. Phishing attacks can take many forms, but they all share a common goal – getting you to share sensitive information such as login credentials, credit card information, or bank account details.

As a reminder the Alamo Colleges will never ask the following information via email:

  • Offer to expand your email storage
  • Verify your email account
  • Reset your email password
  • Reactivate your email account
  • Request monetary purchases
  • This also applies to your Outlook Web Access (OWA) credentials

If you receive an email of this nature, simply delete the email. The information above is provided by the Alamo Colleges District Information Technology Services.
