Parents and NVC Students Benefit from the Community Math Program

On April 27, the Northwest Vista College Community Math program had its last Community of Educators event, a fiesta platica where education majors could come give feedback about the program, have lunch, network with other education majors, and get some resources to continue their journey. 

Here is some final trivia about the CM grant and how it impacted the area: 

• The amount of student stipends awarded in the life of the grant (UTSA and NVC) – $60,000 

• How many community centers/schools did CM impact? 15 

• Approximately what percentage of NVC education majors did CM directly serve each semester? 13% 

• How many students were involved in the Community of Educators at NVC? Over 300 

• The number of parents served during the grant? 135 and still counting 

The Community Math grant program will end Sept. 30. Since its inception over the last five years, it has invested in and served our LatinX communities – in ways we will see the benefit from for years to come!
