Every year Catholic Charities organizes Little Pumpkin Palooza (LPP), a Halloween safety and outreach event for families in the community. This year the event was held outdoors at St. Stephen’s CARE Center, a client-choice food pantry, that serves residents on the Westside of San Antonio. Historically LPP is held at the Guadalupe Community Center but because of Covid-19 precautions it was moved to the new location.
NVC has participated for the last seven years, decorating for the event and creating a haunted house. Utilizing decor from HalloVISTA and props collected from previous events, the haunted house was revamped and became a favorite staple of LPP.
This year on Oct. 29, NVC had two stations decorated using the theme of Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters. This included several inflatables, a singing pumpkin photo op, and lots of interactive lawn games.
In all, NVC gave out 640 candy bags to the kids and about 300 flyers to the parents: NVC View Book, Community Math flyers, and other NVC brochures. NVC employees, Paul Vallejo and Migdalia Garcia, were able to talk to parents and children about attending college at NVC.
