Congratulations to Anna Harwin and Eddie Bishop of the Northwest Vista College’s Math department for their work with the Dana Center Mathematics Pathways.
They are a part of a team that now consists of Alamo Colleges District’s Jo Carol Fabianke and Mary Helen Martinez that will work with 11 other two- and four-year institutions to help with these goals:
- Implementing and scaling transferable statistics and quantitative reasoning pathways
- Aligning mathematics requirements to programs of study
- Designing advising for multiple mathematics pathways
- Using multiple Texas Success Initiative (TSI) readiness designations for entry-‐level mathematics
In 2013, 9 community colleges (including Northwest Vista College) began working with the Dana Center as collaborators to inform and advise on the development of the New Mathways Project (NMP), according to Dana Center Mathematics Pathways website.
The website said “as of May 2016, the NMP has grown to include all 50 Texas community colleges and many Texas universities. Resources and tools have been developed by the Dana Center that can be used to help institutions make informed decisions about NMP implementation based on their local needs.”
