Congratulations to Abreetta Bonner on her new position as the director of Community Collaborations in the Office of the President.
Starting May 1, Abreetta took on her new role, building and nurturing NVC’s business and community partnerships, leading the planning, coordination and implementation of fundraising and scholarship programs, mentorship programs and other collaborative initiatives with NVC’s business and nonprofit partners.
Most recently, Abreetta served as the Career Experience Team Lead in NVC Student Success collaborating with a team of certified career experience navigators, senior support specialists and peer ambassadors to support and empower students in their career and professional development. She also partnered with faculty to build and integrate co-curricular experiential learning opportunities between employers and students to provide in-demand skills development for students. Abreetta also built and maintained relationships with established employer partners and implemented a robust employer relations strategy to create internships and employment opportunities.
Over the past 10 years Abreetta’s experience in higher education includes working as a College of Engineering & University College career counselor, lecturer, staff advisor and Dining Etiquette facilitator at The University of Texas at San Antonio. She also worked as the coordinator of Career Services at the University of the Incarnate Word and as a graduate intern & career coach at The University of Texas at Austin.
Abreetta has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Texas State University. She is currently nearing completion of her Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
