New Academic Year Launches with Focus on Student Success

I am thrilled with excitement as we embark on a new academic year at Vista!  The energy on campus this past week has been incredible, and I am confident that this will be a remarkable year. Your dedication and hard work are the foundation upon which our students’ success is built.

During Vista’s All College Convocation last week, we renewed our shared commitment to student success which is the focus of our current Strategic Plan. We want to create the conditions where all students can be successful and achieve their academic goals. Our 2024-2026 Strategic Plan reinforces the focus on student success as the central cornerstone of our efforts and emphasizes belonging and mobility as the pathways to improving student outcomes. 

This week, I have seen countless examples of Vista faculty and staff creating a welcoming, compassionate, and affirming environment for all students and employees. By fostering a strong sense of belonging, we are creating an inclusive environment where every student and employee feels valued and supported.  

Additionally, we need to continue to empower our students to achieve upward mobility through mentorship, academic guidance, and career preparation.

Northwest Vista College has a unique opportunity to be a catalyst for positive change in our community. By working together, we can make a tangible impact on poverty rates in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Let us inspire students to become leaders and problem-solvers who will contribute to the betterment of our society.
