How Does Baldrige Fit Into the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan?

NVC’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan calls for continuous improvement, assessment and accountability. This is what we call Care, Achievement and Distinction. We’ve talked a great deal lately about our recognition as the No. 1 community college in Texas and No. 6 in the nation on the 2019 Niche Best Colleges listing as well as others. Baldrige is concerned with the process of achieving excellence. They will evaluate our colleges on various criteria that includes leadership, strategy, student focus, measurement, workforce, operations and results.

The Care in NVC’s Strategic Plan stands for providing a holistic approach to student support and success and developing college-wide systems to support that action. Achievement means providing development opportunities to meet diverse employee needs. In order to do this for our students, we must first and foremost develop and grow as an institution of higher learning. Baldrige as an independent, external evaluator can do that for us. Distinction means developing and implementing best practices, and the Baldrige program has been in existence since the mid-1980 and has looked at best practices in numerous industries from across the nation. To compete at that level means to care for the quality of our outcomes for our students, alumni and community at large.
