Two Northwest Vista College students attended HACU’s 37th Annual Conference in Chicago, IL.
Jennifer Toledo and Victor Cadena applied and were chosen to represent NVC in the Adelante! Student Leadership track at HACU’s national conference. The students were able to experience a variety of professional development opportunities and panels, as well as experience ways to help continue the servingness framework with our student population at NVC. The experiences that students had were life changing and provided them with invaluable knowledge to use in their leadership roles with NVC.
Jennifer shared, “HACU changed my life. During the conferences, I laughed, I cried with happiness, and I felt proud to be a Latina. I arrived without knowing anyone and I left with a new familia. Thanks to HACU I want to continue with my higher education to show that Latinas can go beyond! I learned a lot and I left with a lot of ideas! Nunca te rindas, si te caes, inténtalo de nuevo.”
Jennifer also was a recipient of the HACU/Southwest flight certificate. Jennifer and Victor will share their experiences at HACU with the leadership team in 2024. They are excited to share what they learned and experienced to make positive changes at NVC.
