One of the best parts of being at Vista is the opportunity to talk with our brilliant students. Some are looking forward to completing their degree or certificate and are filled with excitement, looking forward to graduation and future possibilities. For most of our students, however, the end of the academic term has them looking forward to a break from classes and potentially, an increase in the demands of work and family commitments. We know that the break between terms (or over the summer) from college attendance can make it harder for students to return. In my conversations with students, sometimes all they need is a push to consider the impact of taking even one summer class on their journey to achieving their degree or certificate.
Please join me in encouraging students to take advantage of free summer classes through the Summer Momentum program and to register now for the next academic year through our full academic yearregistration. While students can make adjustments to their schedule after registering for the full year, they leave with a plan that often leads them all the way to graduations. Additionally, they can plan work, family, and other obligations by knowing their schedules in advance. Our advising team is ready to support students over the next few weeks so that every student leaves with a plan.
There are so many things we all have to do before we wrap up the semester and prepare for Commencement on May 23 at 10:00 a.m. My gratitude for each one of you and our collective effort is immense. Let’s finish strong by ensuring that each student finishes the spring by registering for the next four semesters.
Administrative Professionals
This week we also celebrate our administrative professionals for being the anchors of Vista. Please join me in thanking them for their enthusiasm, grace, and passion in serving our students. When you see them in the office or on campus, please recognize their effort and share our deep appreciation for their many contributions to the college and to our students.
