New Name for Workforce Program

DSC_8427Over the last several months, Workforce Education & Training has changed the name to several of its programs to better reflect industry standards and ensure students can easily transfer credits to other four-year colleges.

NVC’s Nanotechnology program is now called Advanced Materials Technology (AMT).

Bharathi (Barti) Subramaniasiva Ph.D., AMT’s coordinator and faculty, said “We decided on the name change to give a broader perspective for the students on nanotechnology-enabled fields. As we all know, nanotechnology is an enabling technology that has impact on all fields of science and technology, starting from biomedicine to aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Nanotechnology, together with the allied technologies, including microelectronics and biotechnology, comes under a broader umbrella of advanced materials technology. The name change also includes new courses being introduced under the Level-1 certificates that will cross-train our students and create multiple career opportunities.”

Recommend you update the dates of the announcements. Very confusing, for example, that the UPS on Campus announcement is dated in 2015 but mentions a deadline in April. April 2016? Similar situation with New EOM Selection Process.
