Congratulations to NVC’s Bernie Zertuche, an Alamo Colleges superintendent, for recently achieving his Certified Educational Facilities Professional designation.
The CEFP designation is awarded by the Association of Physical Plant Administrators or APPA. According to the APPA website, CEFP is “the advanced standard for the experienced educational facilities professional that recognizes mid to senior level professionals. This designation represents superior proficiency in the core competencies and professional strength in educational facilities management.”
Bernie began the rigorous CEFP process about three years ago and recently passed the four-hour test. He said only a handful of employees in the district have this advanced certification and others may have the EFP or Educational Facilities Professional designation.
Bernie has been with the district for 35 years and full time for 30 years. He came to Northwest Vista College in 1999.
He said while the CEFP process has strengthened his knowledge, it has also opened networking opportunities with others in his field to learn how they do things at their campuses.
