Congratulations to Northwest Vista College’s English Professor Natalia Trevino. She was a recent inductee of the Texas Institute of Letter, which held their banquet on May 4 in Woodlands, Texas.
Natalia was one of 12 new members for 2024: fiction and nonfiction writers.
The Texas Institute of Letters announced the winners of the twelve Annual TIL Literary Awards. This year, TIL awarded more than $27,000 in prizes to these writers at the TIL Awards Ceremony and Presentation in The Woodlands, Texas on May 4, 2024.
Natalia said, “This is a huge deal for me and my family. When my parents came to this country with two little kids, I doubt they imagined that one of them one day we considered a writer who gets such a recognition in this country. Of course I would not have been able to pursue my writing without the support of my colleagues and my institution at NVC.”
The Texas Institute of Letters is a nonprofit Honor Society founded in 1936 to celebrate Texas literature and recognize distinctive literary achievement. The TIL’s elected membership consists of the state’s most respected writers– including winners of the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, PEN/Faulkner Award, Man Booker Prize, Academy Award, International Latino Book Award, Americas Award, Lambda Literary Award, MacArthur Fellowship, and Guggenheim Fellowship.
