The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes instructors for their contributions to student learning and college initiatives. Below are this year’s full-time faculty who are the recipients. Adjunct faculty are announced in the spring.
Sarah Ball, History
I show up every day excited and ready to learn. She is passionate about the subject and it shows in her lessons. She is kind and respectful. She keeps the class engaged and is very fair. Her teaching style makes you think you’re out to lunch having a conversation with a friend and that makes it fun.
George Gittinger, Philosophy
This is the second course I have taken with Professor (Gittinger). He is not only one of the best prepared, but also the most engaging instructors I have had the fortune to encounter. He keeps class interesting with a variety of activities that keep everyone engaged in learning the material. Each of the lessons are both varied and thought-provoking. This is a refreshing change from the standard lecture, and I believe it has resulted in many more students having a better understanding of the material. I wish there was a third course that Professor Gittinger taught so I could enroll. I highly recommend him for this award, he is most deserving of it!
Dave Rohrbach, Biology
Dr. Rohrbach is a phenomenal teacher who goes above and beyond for his students. I have learned so much in his class, that I am confident that I will be able to pursue my future career with confidence and satisfaction. Dr. Rohrbach not only showed how passionate he was with his teaching; he also was able to give our class some valuable life lessons to take with us as we continue our journey in school. I would recommend Dr. Rohrbach for Excellence in Teaching Award for his hard work, dedication, and commitment.
Liz Wright, Psychology, Minnie Piper Nominee
Dr. Wright is a wonderful teacher who applies her lessons to real life situations that allows us students to fully understand. She is funny and makes class very enjoyable. She makes you want to come to class and participate and I think she deserves to be rewarded for the amazing work she has done. Taking her Child Psychology course last semester is what influenced me in choosing Child Psychology as my career path.
