Employee Development Day Recap

Did you miss this year’s Employee Development Day? Thanks to Zoom recording, most of the sessions were recorded including the main plenary session.

The main session included welcome remarks by Northwest Vista College President Dr. Ric Baser with emcee Mallory Plummer introducing the rest of the speakers and sessions. The topics were:

  • “Social Justice is What Love Looks Like in Public” by Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president of Montgomery College – the largest community college in Maryland.
  • Student Perspective on the Black Lives Matter Movement with NVC Black Student Union President Alencia Warner
  • “Interventions, Collaborations, & Community Engagement through a Poverty-Informed Lens” by Director of the NVC Advocacy Center Lisa Black, along with Dr. Zachary Taylor, Institutional Support Consultant of Trellis.
  • Virtual Jumanji Escape Room

Also here’s a link to a longer Black Lives Matter movement student panel discussion with representatives of the NVC Black Student Union.
