As Bexar County enters the second week of early voting, Northwest Vista College remains a top voting site. As of Oct. 28, NVC had 6,431 total voters, making it the 12th most popular spot out of 43 early voting sites.
Northwest Vista College even passed UTSA in total voters with Vista having 810 more people going to the polls than the university. The top voting location in the city was Brookhollow Library with almost 11,000 voters.
This mid-term election is slated to be one for the record books in terms of attracting new voters. Bexar County Elections Department had extended hours on Oct. 9 to prepare for the influx of new voter applications, which was estimated to be at least 40,000 more voters than the last election. Bexar County has1,092,734 registered voters.
NVC’s voting site is also seeing a lot of new voters.
NVC student Marin McDaniel proudly wore her “I Voted” sticker right after voting and said the whole process of standing in line to voting took her about 15 minutes.
Early voting for the general election goes through Friday, Nov. 2 from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday.
