[image 1]Popular Latino artist, cartoonist and radio talk show host Lalo Alcaraz brought his humor, political satire and personal story to an audience of Northwest Vista College students, faculty and staff this week.
Northwest Vista College recently received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to implement the Student Training in the Arts for Growth in Education and Self-Confidence (STAGES) camp program.
As the college embraces its Wildly Important Goals or WIGS, a number of areas have outlined initiatives they are working towards.

NVC has received a contribution of $8,000 from the San Antonio STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Initiative Cooperative.
Alamo Colleges Chancellor Bruce Leslie and the board of trustees selected Ric Neal Baser as president of Alamo Colleges-Northwest Vista College on July 1. Baser will succeed Jacqueline “Jackie” E. Claunch, who is retiring at the end of August.
[image 2]The Northwest Vista College department of Distance Learning in conjunction with Faculty Development was proud to host the TeachTechFest2014 conference on Tuesday, July 22. This year’s theme was Information Literacy: Teachers, Learners & Technology.
The Information and Communication Technology team at Northwest Vista College has completed the implementation of wireless access throughout all campus buildings as well as “green spaces,” between and around buildings. This means that students, employees and visitors can access the Internet in those areas on their laptops, tablets and mobile phones without using their personal data plans.
